James Martin, executive chef/owner of 85 Main in downtown Putnam, has been nominated for the Connecticut Restaurant Association’s 2011 “Chef of the Year” award.
Along with Martin, the finalists for Chef of the Year include Scott Miller from Max’s Oyster Bar in West Hartford and Kevin Long from Shrine at Foxwoods.

Registration is now open for the newest event to come to downtown Putnam, the Courthouse O’Putnam 5K!
Thanks to a partnership between the Courthouse Bar and Grille and the Hartford Marathon Foundation, the Courthouse O’Putnam 5K will take place on Sunday, March 11th and is guaranteed to be a great time for runners and spectators alike. Crazy costumes are encouraged and following the race, the Courthouse will host a celebration on Main Street, with lots of Guinness, corned beef and St. Patrick’s Day cheer for everyone!

The Arc of Quinebaug Valley has launched the “Elevating Education – The Power to Transform Lives” Capital Campaign. The purpose of the campaign is to provide full accessibility for all individuals with disabilities through the installation of an elevator at our Cook Hill Rd. Office, Education and Training Center. These funds will also ensure the continuation of critical services that enable individuals with disabilities to live full and productive lives. Our goal is $250,000.
